Be A Healthier You!
Let us say your coming down with a cold. Actually, you have been sick a lot lately. You will have a cough for a week and have a runny nose the next. Or maybe you have gained a couple of pounds and you just want to know how to lose them. Well, I am here to tell you some of the ways on how to keep yourself healthy. Say goodbye to the common cold and become a leaner, happier you!
Follow these basic guidelines, and you will be as good as new!
1. Wash Your Hands
I can not stress enough how important this is. Think about this common situation: someone asks to borrow a pencil. Once you hand over that pencil, it is out of sight, out of mind. No worries, right? Wrong! How many of you have ever put your pencil by your lips or maybe even dropped your pencil on the floor? Can you say GERMS? The truth is germs are everywhere. There is no way around them, but there are ways to prevent them from spreading. In this pencil situation, you do not have to be rude and say no when someone asks you to borrow a pencil, but you could use an anti-bacterial wipe and run it over the pencil when you have the time. This way, there are no unwanted germs transferred over from the person, to the pencil, then over to you. One thing I always do after I come home from someplace is wash my hands. You have no idea what sort of germs have accumulated in stores, schools, or anywhere else you can think of. So, the best way to prevent sickness is by washing your hands.
2. Try Not To Touch Your Nose, Eyes, or Mouth
This is the common way that germs spread. If you really need to touch your eyes, nose, or mouth, make sure you wash your hands thoroughly before and after. This way, the germs from your hands will not make it into your body, and the germs from your nose, eyes, or mouth will not be able to reach other people.
3. Fruits and Veggies Are Your Friends
Now, is not that the cheesiest title you have ever heard? It may be cheesy, but it is true. Vegetables and fruits are filled with vitamins and minerals that many of the processed foods we eat today do not provide. It is very important to make sure you meet the requirement of 5 or more servings of vegetables and fruits a day. I know to some this may seem like more than they would ever put in their mouths. But, you need to meet these requirements to stay healthy. When eating green vegetables, remember the greener, the better. If you had to pick between a green pepper or lettuce, the better choice would be the green pepper. When eating fruits, try and eat them when your stomach is empty. This helps your digestive system. After continuous weeks of keeping up with your daily servings, you should notice that you have more energy as well as more brain power. Who knew fruits and vegetables could do such wonderful things?
4. Fit In Some Sort Of Exercise Everyday
If your not in a sport, finding time to exercise may be difficult. There are ways to 'sneak' in workouts though. Here are some examples: take the stairs instead of an elevator, walk at a brisk pace instead of strolling, try walking or riding your bike instead of driving, or dance to your favorite song. These are just some examples on how you can fit in a workout. Whatever you try is good; just do something!
5. Drink Water
Water is one of the very few things on this Earth that have basically nothing; no calories, fat, or sugars. This is one of the best things for your body. For some of us, this may be hard since we love our sodas! But, try it. Just for a week. Give up soda and replace it with water. You will feel more hydrated and ready to go! Oh, the benefits of water!
Believe me, all these steps require change. It may seem difficult to give up soda and replace it with water or trade in your candy and chips for veggies, but please realize this will help you in the long run. Not only will you be healthier, but you will be leaner and happier. Go on; your already taking steps to becoming a better you!
